No. All new activations for students and their Ohana are on the prepaid plan.

Yes. Complete the request form and be sure to select the correct option.

Yes, there is a $30.00 non-refundable activation fee for each line that must be paid with card.

Toggle ItemHow do I pay for the prepaid plan and non-refundable activation fee?
Both the prepaid plan and non-refundable activation fee will be billed to your student account.

Toggle ItemWhat happens at the end of the four-month (semester) or two-month (term) prepaid plan?
BYUH Cellphone will email you 30 days before the end of your prepaid plan with options to renew. If the BYUH Store does not hear back from you by the end of your prepaid period, your line will be canceled. There will be a $15.00 reactivation fee charge to reactivate your line.

Before moving forward, it is recommended that you check to see if your phone is compatible. Click on the carrier below, you will need your IMEI #. To find your IMEI, dial *#06# from your phone.

After we have received your completed online form, we will work to activate your SIM card. This can take up to two to three business days. You will be notified by email for pickup or shipping.

You will have the option to save your payment method for auto payment. Auto payments are processed on the last day of the month. If the last day of the month falls on the weekend or university holiday, the auto payment will be processed on the next business day. Keep in mind the next business day will be in the next month. -

Toggle ItemWhat if my old phone cannot be turned on, how do I get my information from my old phone?You can check your cloud to see if you have any information saved. It is recommended that you update your phone and have your contacts, messages, photos, videos, and etc. backed up daily or as often as possible.

Toggle ItemI have a phone line and want to add a watch line, do I need to pay the non-refundable activation fee?Yes. The non-refundable activation fee is for each new line of service.

Toggle ItemWhat if I place an order but my number wasn’t eligible for an upgrade?We will inform you of your options. Your options can be where you are billed the early termination fee, pay a higher price for the phone, or be charged 3% processing fee to refund your order. We recommend that you check to be sure your line is eligible for an upgrade if you aren’t sure.

Toggle ItemWhen can I upgrade my phone?Upgrade eligibility begins after the end of contract date.

Toggle ItemWhat happens if I don’t upgrade my phone after two years?Since our account is on a subsidized plan, after two years, your monthly rate is eligible to be reduced since you’re no longer paying off the cost of the device as part of your monthly rate. Your carrier will automatically lower your monthly rate once you’re past the two years.

Toggle ItemWhat is a hotspot?Smart phones can be turned into an internet beacon (like an Internet router) through a service known as a hotspot. When the hotspot feature is activated, smart phones can supply web access to nearby computers, tablets, and other devices.
Use this feature to stay connected while traveling or when Wi-Fi is not available. Our T-Mobile plan includes 10GB of hotspot, our AT&T plan includes unlimited tethering (hotspot), and our Verizon plan includes 10GB of hotspot. -
Toggle ItemWhat if my phone breaks?Devices can be exchanged through our office within 14 days of delivery confirmation. This includes returning the phone, switching to a different color and/or storage capacity, or for manufacturer defects. This does not cover devices damaged by the user.
After 14 days, phones cannot be returned through the BYUH Cell Phone office; however, most manufacturers (Apple, Samsung, etc.) will cover hardware issues up to one year. Please check with the manufacturer of your device to know what they will cover.
The BYUH Cellphone office does not offer insurance for devices. Insurance can be purchased through many of the manufacturers independently.

Toggle ItemCan you transfer my contacts?Apple and Samsung have made efforts to make transferring content and data from your previous device to your new one a much simpler process. For this reason, our office no longer has machine to transfer data as we have in the past.
For Android users, a common tool is “SmartSwitch” (an app).
For Apple users, we recommend the “Quickstart” method when you turn on the device and get started.
We are happy to provide tips if you get stuck, but ultimately, we will refer you to Apple or Samsung if you need major assistance. -
Toggle ItemHow do I back up information on my phone?It is recommended that you regularly back up the content on your phone in case your phone gets lost, stolen, or breaks.

To transfer content from one phone to another, the setup of the new phone will instruct you on how to transfer content. -
Toggle ItemShipping Phones: Are all phones shipped out now?Short answer is yes, it is now procedure for all phone orders to be shipped to the customer. We have found that this saves the customer time, as the package no longer needs to be processed with us and it limits the need for in person contact which helps us maintain local health guidelines.
